Intro

Set a beautiful tone at your Shabbat table with this challah knife, its wood handle inlaid with an intricate cutout metal design. The metalwork weaves together Hebrew letters spelling out the Hamotzi blessing, surrounded by delicate floral shapes. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose Judaica has furnished Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Used to slice the challah before the Shabbat and holiday meal, the knife pairs a wood handle with a cutout metal overlay bearing the Hamotzi text. The blade is stainless steel with a serrated, wave-cut edge that runs its full length. The knife measures 12.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide, sized comfortably for a standard loaf.

Gift Ideas

A handsome and functional piece, this knife makes a fitting wedding, engagement, or housewarming gift. It suits a bar or bat mitzvah or an anniversary as well, and works nicely for anyone setting up a Jewish home. The combination of wood and metal gives it a lasting, giftable quality beyond those occasions too.

Care Instructions

Hand wash the blade and dry it promptly to keep the steel from spotting. Wipe the wood handle and metal inlay with a soft, dry cloth rather than soaking it, to preserve the finish.
