Intro
Add a touch of color to every Shabbat and holiday with a blue kippah edged in flowing embroidery. Scrolling waves in silver and grey thread rise into teal and blue fans around the rim, set against a deep blue ground. Waves bring to mind renewal and constant motion, a quiet note for a piece worn close to the head. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has graced Jewish homes for over two decades.
Build and Use
Worn at prayer, at the Shabbat table and on Yom Tov, the kippah is made from a blend of cotton, polyester and silk. The fabric has a soft sheen and a subtle slubbed texture. The embroidery runs in a continuous band around the lower edge, and a matching fabric trim finishes the rim. It measures 6.5 inches in diameter and weighs very little, so it sits comfortably through a long service.
Gift Ideas
A blue kippah with a distinctive border makes a thoughtful bar mitzvah gift. It suits a wedding or engagement just as well, whether for the groom or the guests. It also works for an anniversary or a birthday, or as a gift for someone building a Jewish home. The deep color pairs easily with a tallit and a dark suit.
Care Instructions
Spot clean the kippah gently with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Avoid soaking or machine washing, which can dull the sheen of the silk blend. Store it flat so it keeps its shape.
