Intro
Keep a long shofar protected between blessings with a soft velvet pouch, its front carrying the embroidered words "Hallelu-hu beteka shofar" in silver thread. The verse, drawn from Psalms, calls on the shofar itself as an instrument of praise, a fitting line for the pouch that holds one. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has shaped Jewish ritual objects for over two decades.
Build and Use
Made for a 44 inch Yemenite shofar, the pouch measures approximately 43.5 by 10.5 inches and closes with a drawstring at the top. Cut from soft velvet, it carries a shoulder strap for easy transport to and from synagogue. The long, narrow shape follows the curve of a Yemenite shofar and keeps it protected in storage.
Gift Ideas
Sized for a long shofar, this pouch suits a bar mitzvah gift or a present for someone who blows shofar through the High Holidays. It works well for a housewarming gift to a new synagogue member, or as an anniversary gift marking years of service to a congregation. Anyone who owns a Yemenite shofar will find it a practical and meaningful addition.
Care Instructions
Spot clean the velvet with a soft, dry cloth and avoid soaking it in water. Keep the pouch away from direct sunlight and damp storage so the fabric and embroidery hold their color.
