Intro
Set a striking piece at the center of your Shabbat or holiday table with this smoked brass kiddush cup. The upper rim stays brushed gold while the lower body carries a fire smoked, mottled finish, with the words of the Borei Peri Hagefen blessing cut in gold across the front. Recited over wine at Kiddush, the blessing gives the cup its purpose and its name. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has shaped Jewish tables for over two decades.
Build and Use
Crafted from brass and finished with a smoked, fire treated surface, the cup holds approximately 205 ml and stands about 3.5 inches tall. A matching 4.5 inch brass tray sits beneath it, sharing the same smoked and gold finish. The contrast between the polished rim and the darkened body gives each cup its own individual pattern.
Gift Ideas
The cup suits a wedding, an engagement, or a housewarming for anyone setting up a Jewish home. It also makes a fitting bar or bat mitzvah or anniversary gift, marking a milestone with something used at the table each week. Its weight and finish give it presence as a gift for any occasion tied to Shabbat or the holidays.
Care Instructions
Wipe the cup and tray clean with a soft, dry cloth to preserve the smoked finish. Avoid abrasive cleaners or soaking, and dry promptly if the piece comes into contact with wine or water.
