Intro
Wrap yourself in a tallit that carries color as well as tradition, its corners and atara set with appliqued birds in blue and turquoise against striped raw silk. The birds move across panels of layered fabric, framed by bands of navy and grey on a natural cream ground. Birds in Jewish art often speak to freedom and the soul's ascent, a fitting image for a garment worn in prayer. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose textile work has furnished Jewish homes and synagogues for over two decades.
Build and Use
Woven from a blend of cotton, polyester and raw silk, the tallit is finished with hand appliqued bird panels set into the atara and corners. It measures 21" x 74", worn during Shabbat and Yom Tov prayer, and comes with a matching kippah and a set of tzitzit strings attached at each corner. The striped body is banded in navy and steel grey against the natural silk color.
Gift Ideas
The bird motif and rich color make this tallit a strong choice for a bar mitzvah, marking the occasion with a garment that will be worn for years. It also suits a wedding, where a tallit is often gifted to the groom, or an engagement gift for a couple building a Jewish home. Its design carries the same appeal for a milestone birthday or any simcha centered on prayer.
Care Instructions
Hand wash the tallit in cold water or have it dry cleaned to protect the silk blend and the appliqued panels. Lay it flat to dry and store it folded away from direct sunlight to keep the colors from fading.
