Intro
Bring a bright accent to any shelf or entryway with this freestanding hamsa, its open metal form filled with birds, flowers and butterflies in shades of blue. The hamsa, a symbol of protection and blessing found throughout Jewish and Middle Eastern homes, is rendered here with a garden of hand painted detail. Two songbirds perch among vines and blossoms, a motif tied to abundance and good fortune. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has brought color into Jewish homes for over two decades.
Build and Use
Cut from metal and finished in hand painted enamel, the hamsa stands on its own oval base without need for a wall or nail. It measures approximately 4.5 x 1.5 x 6 inches, sized for a shelf, mantel or entry table. The open lacework design lets light pass through the birds and flowers, giving the piece depth from any angle.
Gift Ideas
The hamsa's meaning of protection and blessing makes it a natural gift for a housewarming, wedding or engagement. It suits a new baby, a bar or bat mitzvah, or an anniversary just as well. Its compact size and freestanding base make it easy to place in almost any home.
Care Instructions
Wipe the piece clean with a soft, dry cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners that could dull the painted finish. Keep it away from excess moisture to preserve the color over time.
