Intro
Mark the Torah reading with a pointer that carries its own quiet detail, the shaft ridged into a repeating striped pattern along its length. Cast in silver toned metal, the yad ends in a sculpted hand with an extended finger, the traditional form used to follow the text without touching the parchment. A chain and ring at the opposite end allow it to be hung or carried securely. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose Judaica has furnished synagogues and homes for over two decades.
Build and Use
Used during Torah readings to trace the text, the pointer is cast in metal and finished with a ridged, striped surface along its shaft. It measures 7.5 inches long and 0.5 inches in diameter, ending in a sculpted hand with a pointing finger. A metal chain with a ring is attached at the handle end for hanging or securing the pointer.
Gift Ideas
A Torah pointer marks a milestone, making it a natural gift for a bar or bat mitzvah, a gift to a synagogue, or a tribute to a rabbi or Torah reader. It also suits a wedding or anniversary gift for someone active in synagogue life. Its compact size makes it easy to give alongside a tallit or kiddush cup.
Care Instructions
Wipe the pointer with a soft, dry cloth to keep the metal surface bright. Avoid abrasive cleaners or prolonged moisture, and store it in a dry place when not in use.
