Intro
Bring a burst of color to any wall with a small hamsa alive with birds, butterflies and blossoms. Two songbirds perch on a curling vine inside the outline of the hand, ringed by bright flowers and leaves. The hamsa is an emblem of protection and good fortune, and the garden scene adds a sense of joy and growth. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has graced Jewish homes for over two decades.
Build and Use
Made of metal and finished in colorful enamel lacquer, the hamsa carries Yair Emanuel's hand painted design, reproduced onto the piece. It measures approximately 4 by 3 inches and weighs under an ounce, so it hangs easily on a wall, a bookshelf or a nursery door. The open cut-out outline lets the wall show through the branches and petals.
Gift Ideas
Small and bright, the hamsa is a natural housewarming gift for a new home. It also suits a new baby, a nursery or a child's room, with its birds and butterflies. A bar or bat mitzvah, an engagement or a wedding are other moments it marks well, and it is an easy add-on to a larger gift.
Care Instructions
Dust the hamsa gently with a soft, dry cloth. If it needs more, wipe it lightly with a barely damp cloth and dry it right away. Keep it away from abrasive cleaners and from damp spots so the enamel color stays vivid.
