Intro

Mark your doorway with a mezuzah case cut in fine metal lace, its pomegranates opening over a shimmering purple backing. Pomegranates carry the meaning of blessing and abundance, fitting for the threshold of a home. A mezuzah holds the scroll inscribed with the Shema, affixed to the doorpost as a sign of the household within. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has been part of Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Cut from metal in an open pomegranate pattern, the case sits over a purple backing that shows through the lacework. It measures about 5 inches long and 1 inch wide, sized to hold a 4 inch scroll, which is sold separately. The cutout technique gives the case a light, decorative look while keeping the scroll enclosed and protected.

Gift Ideas

A mezuzah case suits a housewarming, a wedding, or a family moving into a new home. It also makes a fitting bar or bat mitzvah or engagement gift, marking the start of a new household or a new chapter. The purple and silver tones give it a distinctive look for anyone furnishing a Jewish home.

Care Instructions

Wipe the case gently with a soft, dry cloth to keep the metalwork clean. Avoid water and abrasive cleaners, which can dull the finish and catch in the cutout pattern.
