Intro

Bring a meaningful finish to Havdalah with a besamim box built around its own blessing. The blue anodized metal body is pierced along its center band with the words Borei Minei Besamim, the blessing recited over spices, letting light pass through the cutout lettering. A perforated lid at the top lets the fragrance of the spices reach the room. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel.

Build and Use

Used at the close of Shabbat for the besamim blessing, the box is made from anodized metal with a hand cutout band of Hebrew text. It measures 2 by 1.5 inches, small enough to sit easily in the hand, and the perforated cap allows the spices inside to be smelled without opening the box. The cutout lettering runs around a silver-toned band set between the blue top and base.

Gift Ideas

Compact and easy to give, this spice box suits a wedding, engagement, or housewarming gift, especially for someone setting up their own Havdalah set. It also fits nicely as a bar or bat mitzvah gift or a small addition to an anniversary present. Its size makes it a gift that travels well and settles into any home.

Care Instructions

Wipe the box clean with a soft, dry cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners that could dull the anodized finish. Keep it dry and store it away from moisture when not in use.
