Intro

Bring color and a blessing of peace to your wall with a hamsa that glows with Jerusalem. Rooftops, domes, palm trees and a sunlit sky fill the open work hand, with Shalom set across the center in Hebrew and English. The hamsa carries the hope for protection and good fortune in the home, and Shalom adds the wish for peace. It features the hand painted design of Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has been part of Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Cut from metal in the shape of a hand, the hamsa is finished in enamel lacquer that keeps the colors bright. It measures 9 x 7 inches (about 23 x 17 cm) and weighs just 0.4 pounds, so it hangs easily in an entryway, hallway, kitchen or living room. The cutout design lets light and the wall behind show through the Jerusalem skyline.

Gift Ideas

A hamsa with Shalom is a natural housewarming gift, welcoming a new home with a wish for peace. It also suits a wedding, an engagement or an anniversary, and a bar or bat mitzvah for a family building a Jewish home. The cheerful Jerusalem scene makes it a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves the city, whether or not an occasion is near.

Care Instructions

Dust the hamsa gently with a soft, dry cloth. If it needs more, wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and dry it right away. Avoid abrasive cleaners so the enamel lacquer keeps its color.
