Intro

Take Shabbat wherever you go with a compact pair of hand painted wood travel candlesticks. The piece is decorated with the Seven Species, grapevines, pomegranates and a flowering tree, folding into a single sliding block. The Seven Species recall the fruits of the land of Israel, a fitting motif for a piece made to travel. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has filled Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Carved from wood and hand painted in layered color, the candlesticks slide open to reveal two sockets sized for standard Shabbat candles. Closed, the piece measures 4.5 by 2 by 2 inches, compact enough to pack in a bag or suitcase. The sliding design keeps both candlesticks together as one solid block when not in use.

Gift Ideas

Compact and personal, these candlesticks suit a wedding, engagement or housewarming gift for someone often on the move. They also make a thoughtful bar or bat mitzvah or anniversary gift, especially for a traveler or a student living away from home. Their size and story make them a warm gift beyond those occasions too.

Care Instructions

Wipe the wood clean with a soft, dry cloth and avoid soaking it in water. Keep the piece away from direct sun and harsh cleaners so the painted colors stay bright.
