Intro

Bring a meaningful piece to the bimah with a hand painted Torah pointer, its wood body decorated with the Seven Species in bright, layered color. The design draws on the fruits and grains named as the blessing of the land of Israel, wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has graced Jewish homes and synagogues for over two decades.

Build and Use

Used for Torah reading, the pointer guides the eye along the text without touching the parchment. Carved and hand painted wood forms the body, finished with a metal hand and pointing finger at one tip and joined to a matching stand. The pointer measures 8.5 by 1.5 by 2 inches, and a gold-toned chain connects it to the stand for safekeeping.

Gift Ideas

A pointer like this suits a bar or bat mitzvah, marking the first time a young reader takes the Torah. It also makes a fitting gift for a synagogue, a rabbi, or a Torah scribe, and works well for a wedding or anniversary gift tied to Jewish learning. The bright Seven Species design keeps it a welcome gift beyond those occasions too.

Care Instructions

Wipe the pointer clean with a soft, dry cloth and keep it away from moisture and direct sunlight. Avoid abrasive cleaners so the painted finish stays bright over time.
