Intro

Add a burst of color to your entryway or living room with this Shalom wall hanging, its Hebrew letters cut in a flowing silhouette and hand painted in a patchwork of florals, dots, and stripes. Shalom, meaning peace, is a word Jewish homes have long displayed as a welcome to all who enter. Each letter is painted in its own bold pattern, giving the piece the feel of a folk art quilt rendered in wood. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose colorful style has decorated Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Cut from wood and hand painted in vivid, layered patterns, the piece is ready to hang on any wall. It measures 11 by 5.5 inches and weighs under half a pound, light enough for a simple hook or nail. The varied patterning across each letter is applied by hand, so no two pieces are painted quite the same.

Gift Ideas

Bright and welcoming, this piece makes a natural housewarming gift for anyone moving into a new home. It also suits a wedding, engagement, or bar or bat mitzvah, marking a fresh start with a message of peace. The playful color palette makes it a warm choice for a child's room or a family space as well.

Care Instructions

Dust the piece gently with a soft, dry cloth to keep the painted surface bright. Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture so the colors stay vivid over time.
