Intro

Bring color to your everyday table with this hand painted pair of salt and pepper shakers, each one showing a bright peacock winding through leaves and blossoms. The peacock's sweeping tail and layered feathers are rendered in warm oranges and pinks against a deep blue ground. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has graced Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Carved from wood and hand painted piece by piece, the shakers stand about 4 inches tall with a tapered block shape. Each one holds a small supply of salt or pepper for everyday use at the table. Because the design is applied by hand, slight variations in color and line appear from piece to piece, part of the charm of the set.

Gift Ideas

Bright and distinctive, the shakers make a fitting housewarming gift for a new home or apartment. They also suit a wedding, engagement, or anniversary, especially for someone who appreciates handcrafted Judaica or folk art. The colorful design works just as well as a everyday gift outside of any occasion.

Care Instructions

Wipe the shakers clean with a soft, dry cloth rather than washing them with water. Keep them away from direct moisture and abrasive cleaners so the hand painted finish stays vivid.
