Intro

Mark a doorpost with color by choosing this hand painted mezuzah case, its cylinder covered in butterflies drifting over a sky blue ground. The mezuzah holds a small scroll inscribed with the Shema, placed inside for protection and blessing over the home. Butterflies bring a sense of lightness and renewal, fitting for a threshold crossed every day. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has graced Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Hand painted on wood, the case is finished with a bright blue background and layered butterfly figures in yellow, green, and red. The cylinder measures about 1 by 6 inches and holds a scroll of matching length, sold separately. A small hole near the top allows for mounting, and the letter Shin appears painted across the front.

Gift Ideas

A colorful mezuzah suits a housewarming, a new baby's nursery, or a wedding gift for a couple starting their first home together. It also works well for a bar or bat mitzvah or as a gift marking a move into a new apartment. The lighthearted butterfly design gives it broad appeal beyond any single occasion.

Care Instructions

Wipe the case gently with a soft, dry cloth to keep the paint bright. Keep it away from direct water or harsh cleaners, which can dull the hand painted finish.
