Intro

Mark your doorpost with a mezuzah case painted in birds and blooming pomegranate branches. The case is hand painted wood, its long panel filled with a pair of birds framing the letter Shin amid flowers and fruit. The pomegranates carry their familiar meaning of blessing and abundance, a fitting note for the entrance to a home. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has shaped Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Made to hold the parchment scroll that carries the Shema, this case is hand painted wood measuring 5 inches long. It is sized for a 4 inch scroll, sold separately, and opens along the back to slide the parchment into place. The bright, detailed painting covers all four narrow sides of the case.

Gift Ideas

A hand painted mezuzah like this one makes a thoughtful housewarming gift for a new home, and it suits a wedding or engagement just as well. It works nicely for a bar or bat mitzvah gift too, marking a young person's own connection to their home and tradition. The bird and pomegranate design keeps it warm and welcoming for nearly any occasion.

Care Instructions

Wipe the case gently with a soft, dry cloth to keep the painted surface clean. Avoid water and abrasive cleaners, which can dull the colors, and keep the mezuzah away from prolonged direct sun.
