Intro

Add a touch of Jerusalem to your wall with this small hand painted hamsa. The hamsa's palm shape holds a colorful painted scene of Jerusalem's stone buildings and domes, rendered in warm pinks, yellows, and blues. Long used as a symbol of protection and blessing, the hamsa carries that meaning into any room it hangs in. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has filled Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Cut from wood and hand painted by skilled artisans, this hamsa measures 3.5 inches by 2 inches. A braided cord threaded with a small ceramic bead runs through the top, ready for hanging on a wall or doorway. Its light weight and small size suit a shelf, a door, or a cluster of hamsas displayed together.

Gift Ideas

Small and full of color, this hamsa makes an easy housewarming gift for someone settling into a new home. It also suits a wedding, engagement, or bar or bat mitzvah, and works well as a gift for someone building a Jewish home of their own. Its size makes it simple to include alongside another gift.

Care Instructions

Wipe the hamsa clean with a soft, dry cloth to keep the painted surface bright. Keep it away from direct water and abrasive cleaners, and hang it out of direct sunlight to preserve the colors over time.
