Intro

Bring a splash of color to your entryway with this hand painted hamsa, its blue background filled with perched birds and trailing pomegranate branches. The hamsa is a longstanding symbol of protection and blessing, and here that meaning is carried through vivid, folk-style detail. Pomegranates woven through the design add their own note of blessing and abundance. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has furnished Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Cut from wood and hand painted by skilled artisans, the hamsa measures 6 by 3.5 inches. A braided cord threaded through a small bead at the top makes it ready to hang on a wall or door. The piece is finished on both sides with the same layered detail, so the colors stay rich from any angle.

Gift Ideas

Colorful and symbolic, this hamsa suits a housewarming or a new home gift, and works just as well for a wedding or engagement. It also makes a fitting gift for a bar or bat mitzvah or an anniversary. Its size and light weight make it easy to send, so it travels well as a gift for someone setting up a Jewish home far away.

Care Instructions

Dust the hamsa with a soft, dry cloth to keep the painted surface bright. Keep it away from direct sun and moisture, which can fade or warp the wood over time.
