Intro

Add a piece of Jerusalem to your Hanukkah display with this hand painted wood dreidel and its matching stand. The four faces are painted with scenes of the Old City in warm oriental color, and the fourth face carries the letter peh, for nes gadol haya po, the version used in Israel. Jerusalem imagery carries the weight of heritage and connection, fitting for a piece meant to be displayed rather than played with. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has furnished Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Cut from wood and hand painted by skilled artisans, the dreidel stands 3.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide, set upright in its own painted stand. Each face is finished in detailed color depicting the Jerusalem cityscape, with the peh marking it as the Israel version. As a decorative collectible, the dreidel is meant for display on a shelf or table rather than for spinning.

Gift Ideas

The dreidel and stand make a fitting Hanukkah gift for a housewarming, a bar or bat mitzvah, or anyone building a Jewish home. Its Jerusalem theme also suits a gift for someone with ties to Israel or a love of Jerusalem art. Compact and finished with its own stand, it works equally well as a personal keepsake or a gift passed along for the holiday.

Care Instructions

Dust the dreidel and stand gently with a soft, dry cloth to keep the painted surface clean. Keep them away from direct sunlight and moisture to preserve the color, and avoid abrasive cleaners on the painted wood.
