Intro

Set a meaningful piece on your Shabbat table with this matchbox holder, its lid crossed by a sculpted branch of pomegranates and leaves in gold tone metal over a hammered silver surface. The pomegranate has long stood for blessing and abundance, fitting for the table where the week begins again. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has graced Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Cast and hand painted, the branch, leaves and pomegranates sit raised in gold tone metal against a hammered silver finish, with a rust colored border along the base. The holder measures 4.5 by 2.5 by 1 inches and holds a standard box of matches for lighting Shabbat and Yom Tov candles. The hinged metal lid lifts easily and closes with a secure, snug fit.

Gift Ideas

A small, lasting piece, this matchbox holder makes a fitting wedding, engagement, or housewarming gift, especially for a couple setting up their first Jewish home. It suits a bar or bat mitzvah gift too, or an anniversary present for someone who lights Shabbat candles each week. Its size and detail make it a warm gift for nearly any occasion.

Care Instructions

Wipe the holder clean with a soft, dry cloth, and avoid abrasive cleaners that could dull the gold tone finish. Keep it dry and away from prolonged moisture to preserve the metal's shine.
