The cover rests over the hot plate, keeping the food warming on it set apart and out of sight. A line of Hebrew lettering about the delight of Shabbat runs across the top of the panel. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has been part of Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Made of fabric in patchwork blocks of maroon, rust and copper, the plata cover measures 31.5 by 26 inches. The center panel is embroidered in deep red and plum threads, framed by a woven-look border. Cut to drape over a plata, the cover is sized for the hot plate rather than for the challah or the table.
