Intro

Bring color and a blessing of peace to your entryway or living room with this large hamsa wall hanging. Two birds perch on a flowering branch above the word Shalom, written in Hebrew and English and surrounded by butterflies and blooms. The hamsa is a traditional emblem of protection, and the birds and flowers add a gentle note of harmony. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has graced Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

The hamsa is cut from metal in an open-work outline and finished in enamel lacquer, so the colors stay bright on the wall. Yair Emanuel's hand painted design is reproduced onto the piece. It measures approximately 9 inches tall by 7 inches wide and weighs only 0.33 pounds, so it hangs easily on a single nail or hook. It suits a front hall, a living room or a child's room.

Gift Ideas

A hamsa with Shalom makes a warm housewarming gift for friends settling into a new home. It also suits a wedding, an engagement or an anniversary, and a bar or bat mitzvah gift for a family decorating a room. Its bright colors and light weight make it easy to give, and easy to pack for a gift sent from abroad.

Care Instructions

Dust the hamsa with a soft, dry cloth, or wipe lightly with a barely damp one. Keep it away from abrasive cleaners and from standing moisture so the enamel lacquer stays vivid.
