Intro

Dress your Shabbat plata in a patchwork of champagne, white and violet floral panels. The cover sits over the hot plate that keeps the Shabbat food warm, with the verse Lecha Dodi embroidered at its center. Purple florals frame the words and tie the collage together. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has graced Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Made of fabric in a collage of panels, the plata cover measures 31.5 by 26 inches and weighs about 13 ounces. The size is cut to drape over a plata with room to spare on every side. The Hebrew verse is embroidered in purple on a pale center panel. Champagne and floral sections surround it.

Gift Ideas

A plata cover makes a considered wedding or housewarming gift for a couple setting up a Jewish home. It suits an engagement or an anniversary just as well. For a bar or bat mitzvah family, it is a practical piece they will use every week. The purple and champagne palette sits easily in most kitchens.

Care Instructions

Spot clean the fabric gently with a damp cloth and let it air dry flat. Keep the cover clear of open flame and direct contact with the heating element. Store it folded or flat once it is dry.
