These candlesticks take the Star of David apart and stack it. Layers of colored aluminum plate sit one above the next, triangles turning against each other until the six pointed star reads clearly from above. The pair takes standard Shabbat candles and works for Yom Tov lighting as well.

The form gives the candles a low, sculptural base rather than a tall stem, so it suits a modern table and a small apartment where full size candlesticks feel heavy. Every layer is a different shade, and the flame lights the stack from the top down. They make sense for anyone who wants contemporary Judaica in place of traditional silver, and they hold their own as an object on a shelf between Shabbats.

Each candlestick is built from anodized aluminum, a process that carries the color into the metal so it stays put through regular use, with a metal cup at the top that holds the candle.
