Intro

Set the tone for Shabbat with a board built to hold the challah at the center of the table. Cut from acacia wood, the board is fitted with sculpted metal handles cut into pomegranates, stars, and swirling vines on either side. The pomegranate carries a long association with blessing and abundance, a fitting note for the bread over which the blessing is said. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose Judaica has furnished Shabbat tables for over two decades.

Build and Use

Milled from solid acacia wood, the board measures 16.5 by 11 by 0.5 inches, sized to hold a full loaf or two. The words Hamotzi lechem min ha'aretz are engraved directly into the bare wood grain rather than painted or printed on. The pomegranate handles are cut metal, mounted at each end for a secure, steady grip when the board is carried to the table.
