Intro

Bring the challah to your Shabbat table on a board built to be its centerpiece. Cut from acacia wood, the board carries the Hamotzi blessing engraved across its surface, framed on either side by sculpted tree handles in blackened metal with brass leaves. The Tree of Life motif speaks to growth and renewal, fitting company for the bread at the start of the meal. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has shaped Jewish tables for over two decades.

Build and Use

Milled from acacia wood, the board measures 17.5 by 10.5 by 1 inches, sized for a full challah with room to spare. The Hebrew text of Hamotzi lechem min ha'aretz is engraved directly into the wood. Sculpted brass handles rise from each end, their blackened branches set with gold trim leaves, giving the board a raised grip on both sides.

Gift Ideas

Sized for a full challah and finished with sculpted handles, the board makes a strong choice for a wedding, engagement, or housewarming gift. It suits a bar or bat mitzvah or an anniversary equally well, especially for someone building a Jewish home. The Tree of Life motif gives it a meaningful edge for any gift-giving occasion.

Care Instructions

Wipe the board clean with a damp cloth and dry it right away, since standing water can warp the wood. Avoid soaking it or running it through a dishwasher, and rub in a food-safe wood oil occasionally to keep the grain from drying out.
