The cover is set apart for the bread at the start of the meal, its center panel embroidered in silk thread with the words for Shabbat and Yom Tov. The patchwork design pairs woven textures with a clean center panel, giving the piece a layered look without crowding the table. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has shaped Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Woven from a cotton and polyester blend, the cover is embroidered in silk thread rather than by hand, giving the lettering a crisp, even finish. The panel measures 19.5 by 15.5 inches, sized to rest over a standard Shabbat challah. It matches the coordinating plata cover for a set look across the table.

Gift Ideas

The challah cover suits a wedding, housewarming, or engagement gift for anyone setting up a Jewish home. It also fits a bar or bat mitzvah or an anniversary gift, especially alongside the matching plata cover. Its blue and white palette gives it a versatile look for any Shabbat table.

Care Instructions

Hand wash the cover gently in cool water or dry clean to protect the silk embroidery. Lay flat to dry and avoid wringing, and keep it away from direct heat or harsh detergents.
