A dark band across the center carries the words Shabbat V'Yom Tov, embroidered in silk thread with a simple floral flourish on either side. The cover sets the challah apart until it is uncovered for the blessing. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has furnished Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Woven from a cotton and polyester blend, the cover carries its lettering in machine embroidered silk thread rather than hand stitching. The textured gray fabric frames a darker central band where the embroidery sits. The cover measures 19.5 by 15.5 inches, sized to rest comfortably over a standard challah.

Gift Ideas

The cover's understated palette makes it a fitting gift for a wedding, housewarming, or engagement. It suits a bar or bat mitzvah or an anniversary as well, or anyone setting up their own Shabbat table for the first time. Its neutral tones make it easy to pair with existing table settings.

Care Instructions

Hand wash the cover gently in cold water and lay it flat to dry to protect the embroidery. Avoid wringing or high heat, and keep it away from direct sun when storing.
