Bands of textured fabric surround a central panel embroidered in silk thread with the words 'Shabbat Ve'yom Tov', marking the cover for the day the words name. The layered patchwork gives the piece quiet texture without pulling focus from the table beneath it. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has furnished Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Made from a cotton and polyester blend, the cover is embroidered in silk thread rather than by hand, giving the lettering a crisp, even finish. The patchwork construction pieces together textured and smooth panels in matching tones of white and cream. It measures 19.5 inches by 15.5 inches, sized to rest over a Shabbat challah, and pairs with a matching plata cover.

Gift Ideas

The clean, neutral palette makes this challah cover a natural fit for a wedding, engagement, or housewarming gift. It also suits a bar or bat mitzvah or an anniversary, especially for someone building or refreshing a Jewish home. Its versatile tone means it works well as a warm gift for nearly any occasion.

Care Instructions

Hand wash the cover gently in cold water or dry clean it to protect the silk embroidery. Lay it flat to dry and keep it away from direct heat to preserve the fabric's texture and color.
