At its center, the words Shabbat Ve Yom Tov sit inside a silk thread pomegranate border, the fruit a familiar symbol of blessing and abundance. The piece is designed to match Yair Emanuel's plata cover, so the two can be used together. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has furnished Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Made from a cotton and polyester blend, the cover carries its pomegranate border and lettering in silk thread embroidery, machine worked rather than done by hand. The panel measures 19.5 inches by 15.5 inches, sized to sit over a standard Shabbat challah. Its patchwork face is pieced from richly textured red, blue and green fabric squares around a cream center panel.

Gift Ideas

The cover suits a housewarming, a wedding, or a gift for a couple furnishing their first Jewish home. It also works well for a bar or bat mitzvah or an anniversary, especially alongside its matching plata cover. Its rich colors and detailed embroidery make it a piece that reads as thoughtful for almost any Jewish milestone.

Care Instructions

Hand wash the cover in cold water or dry clean to protect the silk thread embroidery. Lay it flat to dry and keep it away from direct sun, which can fade the patchwork colors over time.
