A vine of pomegranates, symbols of blessing and abundance, circles the greeting in fine embroidery. The cover rests over the plata and the food kept warm on it through Shabbat. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has been part of Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Pieced from fabric in shades of maroon, rust and rose, the plata cover measures 31.5 x 26 inches. Cut to drape over a plata and the dishes warming on it, the size sits comfortably across the hot plate. The border and the Shabbat Shalom lettering are embroidered on the cream center panel. The cover weighs about 0.8 pounds.

Gift Ideas

Warm in color and rich in detail, the cover makes a natural housewarming or wedding gift. It suits an engagement or an anniversary just as well. For a couple setting up a Jewish home, it is a practical piece they will bring out every week.

Care Instructions

Spot clean the cover with a damp cloth and let it air dry flat. Hand wash gently if needed, so the embroidery keeps its shape and the colors stay rich. Store it folded in a dry place and keep it clear of open flame.
