At the Seder the broken middle matzah's larger half, the afikoman, is set aside in a cover until it is eaten at the meal's end, often after being hidden for the children to find. The cover here carries a dense scrolling floral border framing a Hebrew inscribed center panel. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has shaped Jewish ritual tables for over two decades.

Build and Use

Embroidered onto fabric, the cover measures 12 inches by 9 inches, a size suited to holding the afikoman through the Seder. The silver toned threadwork forms an ornate border around a woven Hebrew word at the center. Light in the hand, the piece weighs just under three ounces including its packaging.

Gift Ideas

An afikoman cover suits a Passover gift for a family building their own Seder traditions, and works well for a housewarming or a wedding gift for a couple setting a Jewish home. It also fits an engagement or anniversary gift for those who value ritual pieces. The silver tones make it a versatile addition to nearly any Seder table setting.

Care Instructions

Spot clean the cover gently with a damp cloth and mild soap as needed.
