The words "Shabbat v'Yom Tov" are stitched across the top in blue silk thread, framed by the pomegranate motif long associated with blessing and abundance. Designed by Jerusalem artist Yair Emanuel, whose work has furnished Jewish homes for over two decades.

Build and Use

Set over the challah before the blessing each week, the cover keeps the loaves out of sight until the right moment. Made from a cotton and polyester blend, it is embroidered in silk thread rather than by hand, giving the pomegranates and vines their fine, even detail. The cover measures 19.5 inches by 15.5 inches, sized to drape comfortably over one or two loaves.

Gift Ideas

The rich color and detailed embroidery make this challah cover a fitting wedding or engagement gift, and a natural choice for a housewarming or a bar or bat mitzvah. It also suits an anniversary gift or a gift for someone furnishing their first Shabbat table. The warmth of the design carries well beyond any single occasion.

Care Instructions

Hand wash the cover in cool water and lay it flat to dry to protect the silk embroidery. Avoid bleach or harsh detergents, and iron on a low setting if needed, working around the stitched design.
